about emilie

A little bit about me - I'm the Emilie in Emilie Duncan Event Planning. I have been planning weddings and events for over twelve years and I truly cannot imagine doing anything else! I certainly didn't start my career in the wedding industry - I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Merchandising Management and went to work in the world of retail buying. I worked in the home offices of several national retailers and loved what I did but in the back of my mind knew it wasn't what I wanted to do forever. Finally, in early 2004, after much research and study, I decided to transition to weddings and events and founded Emilie Duncan Event Planning.

I've served on the Board of Directors for the Columbus Chapter of International Live Events Association (ILEA). I am a distinguished graduate of ABC's professional development program, earning the title of Professional Bridal Consultant (tm). My firm belief in continuing education and desire to raise the bar of professionalism in the Columbus area also lead me to co-found Wedding Skills Workshop, a series of educational workshops and seminars for wedding vendors and brides.

I suppose the most important thing you should know is that I still get giddy when a new client trusts me to help them write the first page of their new shared history and I consider it an honor to be part of every wedding that I plan and coordinate!

about edep

We are a full service event planning firm that offers a boutique experience. It sounds pretty but what does that mean? In short, we can offer everything that a company many times our size offers but we actually take the time to get to know you as individuals and as a couple - then we help you design a wedding reflective of that. We dedicate ourselves to a single wedding or event per weekend and only accept a limited number of clients every year - just two of the ways we ensure that you get the level of attention and service that you deserve.

The best compliment we can get from our clients is when they say that they always felt like they were our only client and our top priority - in our opinion, that is exactly how it should be.

Our work has been featured online at Style Me Pretty, The Knot, Junebug Weddings, Wedding Chicks and Elizabeth Anne Designs, among others.  We've also had weddings and interviews featured in The Knot Magazine, Columbus Weddings (formerly Columbus Bride), 614 Magazine, Bridal Guide, Capital Style Bride,  Columbus Monthly, Cleveland Elegant Weddings, Weddings in Cleveland, In Style Weddings, the Columbus Dispatch and US News and World Report.

Now about that picture...what can we say? We love our job!  Sometimes (often) that means being photobooth testers - we do whatever it takes to make sure your wedding or event is amazing!

Cakes for a Cause

I am incredibly proud to have been a co-founder of Cakes For a Cause. The annual cake and sweets auction benefited the Mid-Ohio Food Bank's Operation Feed. We brought together the best cake and sweet designers as well as the top caterers in the area for one fantastic evening a year. In the 5 years the event was held, we raised enough money to donate over 130,000 meals for the hungry in Central Ohio.

Wish Upon a Wedding - Ohio

I am also extremely proud to have been a founding board member of Wish Upon a Wedding's Ohio Chapter. Wish Upon a Wedding is a national organization which gifts weddings to couples facing terminal illness and other life altering circumstances.
